Which specific services are covered? Which are not? What is the best way to use your plan and maximize your benefits? At City Family Dental, we not only accept almost all major dental insurances, but we also empower our patients with the knowledge they need to save as much as possible. Below, you’ll find our quick and easy guide to using your dental insurance. Read it, learn, and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call!
The Most Important Thing to Know About Dental Insurance
The main thing most people need to understand is that dental insurance does not work exactly like traditional health insurance. While health insurance is meant to help people treat problems, dental insurance is designed to prevent problems in the first place by making routine care extremely affordable. By using your dental plan to be proactive, you’re guaranteed to get the most out of it. Keep this in mind as you read on.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
Coverage from plan to plan can certainly be different, but most dental policies follow the same basic framework, which looks something like this:
- Preventive care (checkups, cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, dental sealants) is covered 80-100%.
- Basic restorative services (bonding, fillings) are covered 50-70%.
- Advanced restorative services (crowns, bridges, dentures, extractions, root canal therapy) are covered 50%.
- Cosmetic services (porcelain veneers, teeth whitening) are typically NOT covered because they are elective.
We Offer In-Network Savings & Welcome Out-of-Network Providers
City Family Dental is in-network with several popular insurance plans, meaning we’re able to offer the highest discounts possible, but we also accept many out-of-network plans as well. Depending on your policy, visiting an out-of-network dentist doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to spend a lot more. In fact, many patients are pleasantly surprised by how much we can help them save! If you don’t see your plan on the list below, be sure to give us a call—we’ll probably still accept it!
